Alaba Adeniyi Osoneye was born on November 12, 1963, in the Somolu area of Lagos State. He is a native of Erunwon-Ijebu land in Ogun State, Nigeria.
At the age of six, he commenced his educational journey at UNA Primary School, Somolu in 1970. After obtaining his primary school leaving certificate, he proceeded to the prestigious Mayflower School Ikenne in 1977, graduating in 1982 with exemplary results in his WAEC examinations. Despite several unsuccessful attempts to travel abroad for greener pastures, he gained admission into Yaba College of Technology to study Civil Engineering in 1984, graduating in 1989 with a Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering.
Being an alumnus of Mayflower School Ikenne, he dutifully served his country through the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 1989 immediately after graduation. During his service year, he developed a strong penchant for assisting the underprivileged, especially the elderly whom he believed were sadly neglected in society. He devoted most of his spare time and meagre resources to running a social club to support elderly people within his community in Somolu. Over the course of that year, more than 200 elderly individuals benefited from the facilities he provided.
Shortly after his service year with Tempas Structural Engineering Consultant, he commenced his professional career with Primlaks Nigeria Limited, a leading manufacturer of fruit juice drinks, as a young engineer in November 1990. After about two years, he moved on to join Texaco Overseas Petroleum Company Limited (TOPCON) in June 1992 as an Offshore Construction Engineer based in Warri, Delta State. He remained with the company through its merger with Chevron Nigeria Limited in January 2001, becoming a Facilities Management engineer with the newly merged entity. He worked in various capacities both at the head office in Lekki and in the offshore operational base in Escravos.
In the interim of the merger process between TOPCON and Chevron, he enrolled at Lagos State University, Ojo for a postgraduate diploma (PGD) in Environmental Resources Management in 2001. Without delay, he pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc) degree in Environmental Resources Management in 2002. In 2013, he established “Aquamount Table Water”, a table/sachet water factory as a family business to bolster his family’s financial base and to fulfil a social responsibility to his community.
He continued his tenure with Chevron Nigeria Limited for several more years, retiring after 21 years of meritorious service as a Facilities Manager in December 2017. His extensive experience at Chevron facilitated a smooth transition into entrepreneurship. In March 2018, he took on the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of three distinct companies: Zacolabeth Ventures Limited, a leading construction and environmental company; Labany Smart Energy Resources Limited, a firm specializing in solar and energy power generation and CCTV camera networking; and Doorplus Nigeria Limited, a manufacturer of quality doors, office, and household furniture.
Alaba has been a pillar of support to his Mayflower School classmates of the 1977/82 set, both in personal/individual and group relations. He has consistently contributed to the welfare of less fortunate members of this class set from 1982 till date.
